Chinese Soccer Origin Cuju

In the Warring States Period(307BC),  King Zhao Wuling pushed forward the reform that adopting Hu Tribe’s clothing and learning their archery. One day, King Zhao Wuling and his men went out of town by riding and saw that there are some wild rabbits in the woods, he ordered : “Catch them alive.”  Then the soldiers separated into four lines to encirclement and chased them. The rabbits was frightened and run around, disappearing at the interspace of the horses and that made people feel depressed .  Suddenly one of the King’s Counsellor came forward and said: “Lord King, could we use a ball to substitute for the rabbit to compete in Palace?”  “Great idea” King said. 

Then the Chinese football was born in the Warring States, but at that time, it is a sport to hit a ball with a stick on the horseback, called “Cuju”.
